... is a tourist service provider. For more than 125 years, the shipping company has operated the liner service from Emden and later also Eemshaven (Borkumlijn) to the North Sea island of Borkum. Passengers, motor vehicles and freight are transported on modern car ferries. Those who prefer a faster journey can travel by high-speed catamaran to the largest East Frisian island in the high seas. Reederei AG "EMS" was the first German ferry shipping company to be certified by Germanischer Lloyd in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2000. It is also certified according to ISM (International Safety Management) and ISPS (International Ship and Port-Facility Security-Code).
The aviation company OFD Ostfriesischer-Flug-Dienst GmbH, based in Gorch-Fock-Straße 103, D-26721 Emden, Germany, has been granted approval on the basis of Regulation (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council No. 1008/2008 of September 24, 2008 (Official Journal of the European Communities No. L 293 of October 31, 2008) in conjunction with Section 20 of the German Air Traffic Act. § Section 20 of the German Air Traffic Act (Luftverkehrsgesetz) to carry passengers, mail and/or freight (including dangerous goods) by commercial air transport. The air carrier is registered under license number D-188 EG. Aircraft of the type BN-2B-26, Cessna 172R, Cessna 208B and GA8 are used. In accordance with the applicable Regulation (EC) No. 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council and subject to the conditions specified in the certificate of approval, the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, as a continuing airworthiness management organization in accordance with Annex I (Part M) Section A Subpart G of Regulation (EC) No. 2042/2003 the approval to manage the continuing airworthiness of the aircraft listed in the approval list and to issue recommendations and certificates of airworthiness review after airworthiness review according to M.A. 710 of Annex I of Regulation (EC) No. 2042/2003.
The Borkumer Kleinbahn is authorized to carry out the main inspection of its rail vehicles. It is also authorized to carry out safety inspections on buses and trucks as well as exhaust emission tests on all diesel vehicles.
The Inselhotel VierJahresZeiten has been awarded four stars superior as an exclusive hotel by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) and the Strandhotel VierJahresZeiten has also been awarded four stars for its upscale facilities. The Inselhotel VierJahresZeiten GmbH has also been awarded the "ServiceQualität Niedersachsen" seal of quality. This seal of approval shows guests that the hotel employs staff who provide optimum service on a permanent and systematic basis.
