The wholesale market in Bremen faced the biggest challenge in its history. In November 2002, it began operations at its new, central location. Today it has one of the most modern facilities in Europe, designed as a fresh produce center.
A classic wholesale market hall with an area of over 22,000 m² forms the centerpiece of the 163,000 m² site. This three-part wholesale market hall houses the wholesale flower trade, the wholesale produce trade and the classic fruit and vegetable wholesale trade. In the wholesale flower market area, around 40 wholesalers and gardeners offer cut flowers, plants, perennials, shrubs, consumables and accessories.
Around 30 producers from the region market their goods in the producers' market hall.
Around 20 import and wholesale companies offer their products in the fruit and vegetable market hall. In addition, several companies from the catering service industry are active in the fresh produce sector. Customers include restaurants, hotels and bulk consumers. The offer is supplemented by the specialty market hall, which will expand the range of goods with approx. 13 suppliers on more than 8,000 m². The specialty market hall will be run as a C&C market. Organic food wholesalers, dairy product wholesalers, wholesale bakeries, meat and fish wholesalers, wine and spirits wholesalers, non-alcoholic drinks wholesalers, dried goods, tea, Italian, Turkish, Greek and international specialties as well as other delicacies are represented here.
