Know-how:
Baking culture since 1872: Meyer Mönchhof is a family bakery. You can taste the unique combination of love for traditional and high-quality recipes, gentle preparation and regional ingredients. We take our time for traditional and high-quality baking. For example, we use our own natural sourdough and pay attention to long dough resting times. Because only those who produce everything themselves can be sure of what's inside. And we only use the best ingredients.
Annotations:
We are strongly committed to greater sustainability: in packaging, an improved CO2 balance, natural gas climate pro, LED lighting, efficient heating systems, regular social and animal welfare projects, compensation biotopes and insect protection at the head office, recycling of leftover bread, good-from-the-yesterday concept and comprehensive in-house training in sustainability coordination, voluntary sustainability reporting in accordance with VSME - these are just some of the steps we are taking.

Since 2023, we have been sourcing 100% of the electricity for our production and the buildings at our main site from a green electricity tariff and our photovoltaic system.

This year, we are going one step further: in addition to our green electricity tariff, we are now purchasing part of our electricity requirements directly via a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for wind energy. With a PPA, a direct contract is concluded with the operator of the renewable energy plant (e.g. wind or solar park). This actively promotes the expansion of renewable energies, as the income flows directly into the operation of existing plants and the financing of new ones. In the first half of 2025, we were already able to cover 45.65% of our purchased electricity requirements through this contract.

Since this year, we have also been supplying our stores with electricity from renewable energy sources, further expanding our commitment to sustainability.

In addition, our own photovoltaic system with an output of 220 kWp on the roof of our production hall generates plenty of electricity, which we use directly for our production and our building at the main site. But even here, the sun doesn't always shine, and on cloudy days we have to buy in electricity. This is where our partner trawa comes into play, providing us with a reliable supply of energy from renewable sources.
Furthermore, we are only growing cautiously in order to conserve resources and avoid overloading the market.
